Shower Head Shampoo Holder

Someone searching for a shower head shampoo holder wants a rack that hangs from the shower head or the top of the shower arm, holds shampoo, conditioner and soap, and needs no drilling or sticking to the wall. The product type is a hanging shower caddy that fits over the shower head. This guide compares six of them, using only what each Amazon listing states, as read on 2026-10-18. We did not test any of them. The two questions that decide whether one works in your shower are how tall it is and whether it leaves room for the water controls and for you.

Quick answer

If you want the most detail on size, fit and capacity, the SMARTAKE listing states a pipe diameter range of 0.71 to 0.79 inches, a height of 28.15 inches and a 40 pound load figure. The Rubbermaid listing is the only one that names a locking mechanism for the head and inverted bottle storage, but it gives no weight limit. The YASONIC and AKTECKE listings both state 40 pounds and add a wall fixing method (suction cups or adhesive). The Joqixon listing is the tallest at 30 inches and describes an extension structure meant to keep the shower head clear. The SHANSHUI listing is a single basket that hangs from a head, a door, a towel bar or a curtain rod. Before you order any of them, measure the space between your shower head and the water controls.

How we chose

We searched Amazon for “shower head shampoo holder” and opened the listing of each hanging caddy whose title or bullets say it hangs over a shower head or on a shower head. We kept six from six different sellers. We did not rank them by sales or opinions, and we did not use customer reviews. Where a listing is silent, the table says “not stated.” We list a weight limit only if the listing gives one, and we do not claim any of these has been tested on a particular shower arm.

What the listings do not tell you matters as much as what they do:

  • No listing states how much weight the shower arm or head itself can carry. The weight limits are for the caddy. Whether your fixture can hold a loaded caddy is something to check for your own plumbing.
  • Handheld shower heads. Most of these listings say “standard” or “most” shower heads. They do not say they fit a handheld head on a hose. If you use a handheld, see our guide to hanging shower caddies for handheld shower heads.
  • Corrosion claims. “Rustproof,” “rust-resistant” and “never rust” are the sellers’ words. We did not verify any of them.

A clearance check: will it fit under your shower head?

A caddy that hangs from the head hangs down in front of you. The SMARTAKE listing itself warns buyers to measure the distance between the shower head and the shower knob, to leave enough space, and notes that a caddy that is too long may not fit or may stop you reaching the knob. Here is a worked example. The 78 inch arm height is our assumption for illustration only; measure your own.

Listing Listed height Bottom of the caddy if the hanging point is 78 in above the floor
SHANSHUI 13.6 in 64.4 in
AKTECKE 23.2 in 54.8 in
Rubbermaid 24.26 in 53.7 in
YASONIC 26 in (27.5 in in the bullet) 52.0 in (50.5 in)
SMARTAKE 28.15 in 49.9 in
Joqixon 30 in 48.0 in

If your water controls are at 48 inches, the Joqixon caddy would end right at their height in this example, and the SMARTAKE would leave only about two inches. If the controls are on the side wall rather than under the head, the check changes: then you mainly need the caddy not to knock into the spray. Either way, the numbers show why the tallest caddy is not the best choice for every shower.

The six listings

These are not rankings; the listings contain no test results. Labels name what each listing states best.

1. SMARTAKE hanging shower head caddy: the clearest fit and size data

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): stainless steel (the highlight says SUS201), polished silver; two layers; 4.48 x 12.58 x 28.15 inches; built-in soap dish and fixed hooks for razors, bath balls and towels; 40 pound load capacity; fits a 0.71 to 0.79 inch (1.8 to 2 cm) shower pipe; anti-slip rubber for the grip; two adhesive pieces for extra support. The weight field says 1 pound while a bullet says 2.11 pounds, so one is wrong.

Pros: the only listing that gives the pipe diameter range; the seller tells you to measure clearance. Cons: conflicting weight; the 28.15 inch height is long for a low arm.

Best for: a standard round shower pipe where you know the diameter. Skip if: your shower head and controls are close together.

2. Rubbermaid hanging shower caddy: locking top and inverted bottle storage

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): model 7318GYRM; gray; steel with resin shelves; 5.16 x 10.68 x 24.26 inches; 2.29 pounds; two shelves, a soap tray, a razor holder and built-in hooks. The listing names a patented “LockTop” mechanism “easy and secure installation with no slip or sway over any standard showerhead” (patent number 10,064,523, as printed on the page; we did not look the patent up) and upside-down bottle storage for dispensing without lifting the bottles out. The listing states no weight capacity. The pack field shows “2,” which looks like an entry error.

Pros: a stated locking mechanism; inverted storage. Cons: no weight limit; it does not say what shower head sizes the lock accepts beyond “standard.”

Best for: large bottles you want to dispense without lifting. Skip if: you need a stated weight limit.

3. YASONIC aluminum caddy: three baskets and two ways to stop swinging

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): model YS-K-401plus; aluminum, polished silver; three compartments and ten hooks; 4.72 x 13 x 26 inches in the spec field, 13 x 5 x 27.5 inches in the bullet; 1.72 pounds; 40 pound capacity. The top two baskets are for shower gel, shampoo and lotion and the bottom one for soap. An anti-slip rubber circle sits on the top, and the listing says a suction cup and two adhesive pieces can fix it to the wall, “you can choose one of them.” The listing also says to confirm “whether the size of the shower room and the type of showerhead in your home are suitable.”

Pros: light at 1.72 pounds; two wall-fixing options; ten hooks. Cons: height conflict (26 versus 27.5 inches); aluminum is described as “never rust,” which is the seller’s phrase.

Best for: a household that wants a separate soap basket and plenty of hooks. Skip if: you do not want anything fixed to the wall.

4. Joqixon extended length organizer: the tallest, with a clearance design

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): black stainless steel (201); two tiers; 4.7 x 12.8 x 30 inches; 1.76 pounds; weight limit 18.14 kg; two baskets of 12.7 x 4.7 x 3.1 inches and 12.5 x 4.3 x 3 inches; soap holder, razor holder and hooks. The listing says an “upgraded adjustable extension structure” gives space for large shampoo bottles “without interfering with the shower head,” and that anti-slip silicone and adhesive hooks keep it from swinging.

Pros: the largest stated basket sizes; extension design aimed at keeping the head clear. Cons: the weight limit is in kilograms only; the tallest at 30 inches, so check the clearance example above.

Best for: tall bottles and a shower with room under the head. Skip if: controls sit under the head.

5. AKTECKE over-showerhead caddy: collar plus suction cups

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): black; 5.3 x 12.4 x 23.2 inches; 2.4 pounds; 40 pound capacity; a two-tier basket with 8 side hooks, 4 removable hooks, 2 soap dishes and a razor holder. The listing mentions an anti-slip collar for the shower head and four suction cups for a flat wall. Material: the bullet says 304 stainless steel, the spec field says plastic and stainless steel. The compartments field says 16, which does not match a two-tier basket and looks like a count of hooks and dishes.

Pros: two stabilizing methods; the most hooks (12). Cons: material and compartment fields conflict; the suction cups need a flat wall.

Best for: a shower with a smooth wall near the head. Skip if: the wall is textured or the head is far from it.

6. SHANSHUI hanging basket: one basket that hangs several ways

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): 304 stainless steel, polished; one compartment; 11 x 4.7 x 13.6 inches; 1.1 pounds. The bullets say it can hang on doors, shower heads, towel racks or curtain rods, rotates 360 degrees, and has a side hook and a back hook for horizontal bars, with two suction cups. The listing gives no weight limit.

Pros: small and short, so it clears most controls; flexible hanging. Cons: one basket only; no stated capacity; the title says “over door,” so the shower head use is stated in the bullets, not the title.

Best for: a small stall where one basket for a few bottles is enough. Skip if: you need several shelves.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Not measuring the pipe. Only SMARTAKE gives a pipe diameter. For the others, check the listing text for “standard” and compare with your arm.
  • Hanging a long caddy under a low head. Use the clearance table with your own numbers.
  • Using a fixed-head caddy on a handheld. The listings do not say they fit a handheld head.
  • Trusting a weight limit as a limit for your plumbing. The numbers are for the caddy, not the arm.
  • Letting water sit. The EPA mold guide says to dry water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours and to run the bathroom fan or open a window while showering.

Who should skip a hanging caddy

Skip a head-mounted caddy if your shower arm is short or loose, if you use a handheld shower with a hose, or if the controls are close below the head. Wall shelves or a tension pole rack do not depend on the head. For related picks see our guides to the shower head organizer, the shampoo holder for the shower and the shower head rack.

FAQ

How do I hang a shampoo holder on a shower head?

Per the listings, you place the caddy over the shower head or shower arm and, for some models, fix it with suction cups or adhesive. SMARTAKE says it needs no tools. Rubbermaid names a locking mechanism for a standard shower head. Read the specific listing and check the pipe size.

Will a shower head caddy fit my shower?

The listings say most or standard shower heads. Only SMARTAKE gives a pipe diameter (0.71 to 0.79 inches). Measure your pipe and the space below the head before you order.

How much can a hanging shower caddy hold?

SMARTAKE, YASONIC and AKTECKE state 40 pounds, and Joqixon states 18.14 kg, which is about 40 pounds. Rubbermaid and SHANSHUI give no limit. None says how much the shower arm itself can carry.

Do these work with a handheld shower head?

The listings do not say. They describe fixed shower heads. For a handheld, look for a caddy listing that says it fits one.

Can I use more than one caddy?

The listings do not address this. Each states its own weight figure for the caddy alone.

Decision rule

Measure the pipe diameter and the distance from the shower head down to the controls. If you have room, choose the SMARTAKE for the clearest fit data or the Joqixon for the tallest baskets. If clearance is tight, choose the SHANSHUI or AKTECKE, the two shortest. Choose the Rubbermaid if the locking mechanism and inverted bottles matter more than a stated limit. Choose the YASONIC if you want a separate soap basket and hooks. If you use a handheld shower, look for a caddy whose listing says it fits one.
