Best Gooseneck Shower Arm: Six S-Shaped High-Rise Arms Compared
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Details
The best gooseneck shower arm is the one whose rise, flange and finish match your wall, your ceiling-to-elbow measurement and the head you plan to hang on it. This guide compares six S-shaped high-rise arms from six brands, using only the title, feature bullets and product details each listing shows. Every listing gives a height or rise figure somewhere, and two of them give figures that disagree with each other. Measure before you order, and read the rise figure on the listing you choose.

Quick answer
- Measure from the ceiling to the drop elbow first. AQUAIAW’s first bullet says the distance “should be at least 12.5 inch,” the only minimum clearance figure in this set.
- Treat a rise figure as unconfirmed when the bullets disagree. BESTILL gives 7 inches in one bullet and 11 inches of height in another, and BRIGHT SHOWERS gives 5 inches and 13 inches.
- For the clearest single rise figure, choose OFFO (8 inches) or NearMoon (about 10 inches). Both state their rise in one bullet with no conflict.
- Check the flange before you buy. BESTILL, BRIGHT SHOWERS and AQUAIAW list a flange among the included parts. The SEABEFORE and NearMoon spec tables list only the arm.
How we chose
We searched Amazon.com for “best gooseneck shower arm” in Chrome on 21 October 2026 and read the top listings on the first results page. We kept listings whose titles or bullets describe a high-rise arm with an S-shaped or gooseneck bend and a flange. We left out listings whose titles or bullets did not describe a high-rise arm. We kept one listing per brand, so a second, 16-inch SEABEFORE arm from the same results is not in the set. The set has six listings from six brands.
For each listing we read the title, the feature bullets and the product detail table. A bullet that was cut off on the page is not used anywhere in this guide. We recorded no prices, sales labels, ratings or sales rankings, and no pick is ordered by any of them.
What the S-bend does
A gooseneck arm screws into the wall pipe at one end and holds the shower head at the other. The bend lifts the head above the wall outlet, so the head can sit higher than the pipe. The listings use “high rise” for this. NearMoon says its arm “raises your shower arm for about 10 inches,” and OFFO says its arm “raises your shower head 8 in higher.”
The figure in a listing describes how far the arm lifts the head. It tells you the gain, not where the head ends up in your shower. Your ceiling height, your wall pipe position and your own head height decide that. The arm is a fixed part of the setup, and the head is the part you can move on a bracket or rail.
Rise, reach and ceiling clearance
Table 1 sets out each figure as the listing gives it. Figures from the title are marked as title figures. Figures from the bullets are marked by bullet number.
| Listing | Rise or height figure | Other size figure | Clearance or flange figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| BESTILL 13 inch | 7 inch high rise (bullet 1); 11 inch height (bullet 4) | Outlet reaches 13 inch (bullet 4) | Flange 2.7 inch diameter (bullet 4) |
| SEABEFORE 13 inch | 13 inch (title) | Supports a max 12 inch rainfall head (bullet 3) | Not stated in the bullets we read |
| AQUAIAW 10.5 inch | 10.5 inch (title) | Rain head max 16 inch (bullet 1) | Ceiling to drop elbow at least 12.5 inch (bullet 1); flange 2.36 by 2.36 by 0.4 inch (bullet 4) |
| BRIGHT SHOWERS 13 inch | Raise 5 inches (bullet 1) | Extend 13 inches (bullet 2) | Not stated in the bullets we read |
| NearMoon 10 inch | About 10 inches (bullet 2) | Not stated | Not stated |
| OFFO 8 inch | 8 inches higher (bullet 1) | Item length 8 inches (product details) | Outside diameter 2.5 inches (product details) |
BESTILL and BRIGHT SHOWERS disagree with themselves, so this guide gives both figures and does not choose one. Only AQUAIAW states a minimum you must clear, and that is the figure to start from.
Here is how the AQUAIAW minimum works in a real wall. Suppose your ceiling to drop elbow measures 12 inches. Our planning estimate: 12.5 minus 12 is 0.5, so that wall falls half an inch short of the listing’s minimum. A gap that small still counts, because the listing sets 12.5 inches as the figure it wants you to meet.
The head limit is the second gap to check. AQUAIAW lists a rain head up to 16 inches, while BESTILL and SEABEFORE list 12 inches. Our planning estimate: 16 minus 12 is 4, so AQUAIAW’s stated limit is 4 inches wider than the other two. The listings do not say whether that limit refers to the head’s diameter, its weight or its spray face. A wider limit helps only if the head you want fits it in every way the listing measures.
Stainless grade and corrosion
Three listings name a stainless grade in the bullets we could read in full. BESTILL says “304 Stainless Steel” in bullet 2. SEABEFORE says “304 stainless steel” in bullet 1. OFFO says “marine-grade 304 stainless steel” in bullet 2 and “304 stainless steel” in bullet 3. NearMoon says “quality stainless steel” with no grade. AQUAIAW’s title says solid brass, and its bullets describe a brass tube. BRIGHT SHOWERS’ bullets that we could read in full do not name a grade.
A grade name is a starting point, not a guarantee. The Specialty Steel Industry of North America page on chloride stress corrosion cracking says that “Although no stainless steel grade is totally immune to chloride SCC, the relative resistance of stainless steels varies substantially.” The same page says that “standard grades such as 304/304L and 316/316L are very susceptible to this mode of attack.” It explains the failure mode this way: “The combination of tensile stress and a specific corrosive environment can crack stainless steels.”
That page is about a stress and chloride failure, not everyday rust, so it does not tell you how any of these arms will last in your bathroom. It does show why a grade name alone does not settle the question. Ask the seller which grade a listing means when the bullets do not say.
Finish is the other visible difference. BESTILL and SEABEFORE are oil rubbed bronze. OFFO is brushed nickel. NearMoon’s title says chrome, and AQUAIAW’s item highlight says matte black while its title says solid brass. BESTILL’s bullets say its arm matches “Oil Rubbed Bronze Bathroom Shower Fixtures.” That is a listing claim about matching, and it holds only if your valve and head use the same finish. Match the arm to the finish you can see on your own fixtures.
Load and the head you hang on it
Head size matters more than the arm’s name. BESTILL says its arm is “Strong Enough to Support 12 inch Rainfall Shower Head.” SEABEFORE says it is “strong enough to support max 12 inch rainfall showerhead.” AQUAIAW lists a rain head of “Max. 16 inch.” The bullets we could read in full do not say what weight each limit covers, so treat the head size as the only limit a listing states.
The head is where the flow rating sits. The U.S. Department of Energy says that “Federal standards also mandate that all showerheads manufactured and sold in the United States after January 1, 1994, must use no more than 2.5 gpm.” None of the six arm listings mentions a flow rate, so any flow figure belongs to the head you attach.
The EPA’s WaterSense program puts a label on showerheads that meet its criteria. The EPA page says that “WaterSense labeled showerheads are independently certified to meet rigorous performance requirements including:” and lists spray force first: “Spray force: Ensures showerhead spray force (or “pressure”) is sufficient to provide user satisfaction.” None of the arm listings in this set mentions WaterSense, so the label is something to look for on the head itself.
How to choose
- Measure the distance from the ceiling to the drop elbow on the wall pipe. If you do not know it, measure before you shop, and compare that figure with AQUAIAW’s 12.5-inch minimum if you are considering that arm.
- Decide how much rise you need. Use a rise figure only where the listing states it without conflict. For BESTILL and BRIGHT SHOWERS, confirm the rise with the seller before you order.
- Check the head limit against the head you plan to buy. A 12-inch limit covers a 12-inch head. A 16-inch limit covers a larger one, if the listing’s measure matches yours.
- Confirm the flange and the rest of the hardware. BESTILL includes a flange and rubber grommet, BRIGHT SHOWERS includes a flange and Teflon tape, and AQUAIAW includes a flange. SEABEFORE and NearMoon list only the arm.
- Match the finish to your faucet and head. Where a listing names a stainless grade, note it. Where it does not, ask.
If you also want the head to move up and down on a bar, our shower arms and slide bars comparison covers that choice. For straight extensions rather than an S-bend, see shower arm extensions compared.

The six listings in detail
BESTILL 13 inch, oil rubbed bronze
BESTILL has the most complete parts list in the set. The included components are the arm, a flange and a rubber grommet, and the spec table lists a 12-month manufacturer warranty. Bullet 2 names 304 stainless steel and a 12-inch rainfall head, and bullet 5 says the arm uses a “1/2 US Standard Connector” to the head. The arm weighs 1.2 pounds in the spec table.
The rise is the problem. Bullet 1 says “7 inch High Rise,” and bullet 4 says the outlet “Reaches 13 inch, and 11 inch Height.” Those are different figures, and the listing does not say which one describes the arm you would receive. If the rise is the reason you are buying this arm, ask for the figure in writing before you order. The finish is oil rubbed bronze, which the bullets say is meant to match matching fixtures.
SEABEFORE 13 inch, oil rubbed bronze
The SEABEFORE arm’s title gives a 13-inch length. Its bullets say the arm is “Thicker & More Durable,” that it can “support max 12 inch rainfall showerhead,” and that it is made of “304 stainless steel.” The spec table gives a weight of 1.43 pounds. That is 0.23 pounds heavier than BESTILL’s 1.2 pounds, since 1.43 minus 1.2 is 0.23.
Two details need a check. The spec table names the manufacturer as Hanting Plumbing Factory, not the SEABEFORE brand, and it lists only the shower arm as included. The installation bullet did not come through in full on the page, so this guide does not describe the connector or the wall fitting for this arm. The color field names a round flange at 13 inches in oil rubbed bronze, but no bullet we could read in full confirms what comes in the box.
AQUAIAW 10.5 inch, square high-rise arm
AQUAIAW is the only listing in the set that gives a minimum ceiling-to-elbow distance, 12.5 inches, and a rain head limit of 16 inches. Bullet 4 gives the flange as 2.36 by 2.36 by 0.4 inch. Bullet 3 gives a 1/2-inch NPT female inlet and a 1/2-inch NPT male outlet. At 1.5 pounds, it is the heaviest arm in the set, 0.3 pounds heavier than BESTILL (1.5 minus 1.2 is 0.3).
The listing says the arm “must be installed by Professional Contractors,” and the spec table repeats that installation point. Treat that as the listing’s instruction, not as a claim this guide can verify for your wall. The listing has two conflicts you should resolve before you buy. The title says “Solid Brass,” while the item highlight and finish field say matte black. The title’s 10.5-inch figure is the only length the listing gives in its title, and the bullets we could read in full do not give a rise figure to match it.
BRIGHT SHOWERS 13 inch, S-shape
The BRIGHT SHOWERS spec table lists one arm, one flange and one Teflon tape as included, which makes it one of the more complete packages in the set. At 1.1 pounds, it is the lightest of the four arms that give a weight in pounds. The model number is BAR1301-01.
The rise is where the listing contradicts itself. Bullet 1 says the arm will “Raise your showerhead by 5 inches,” and bullet 2 says it will “extend your showerhead by 13 inches.” Both are listing claims, and they cannot both describe the same figure. Confirm the number with the seller, or do not rely on the rise figure when you compare this arm with the others. The third and fourth bullets are cut off on the page, so this guide does not cite the stainless grade or the installation advice for this arm.
NearMoon 10 inch, chrome
NearMoon’s bullets give the clearest single rise in the set after OFFO. Bullet 2 says the arm “raises your shower arm for about 10 inches,” and the figure is in the bullet with no conflicting number. Bullet 1 calls the arm “constructed of quality stainless steel” and says it is “Easy to clean,” but it names no grade. The spec table gives a weight of 11.7 ounces, which is 0.73 pounds, so it is lighter than BESTILL’s 1.2 pounds.
The package is the open question. The title says the arm comes “with Flange,” but the spec table lists only the shower arm as included. The listing does not say whether the flange ships in the box, so ask before you order if you need one.
OFFO 8 inch, brushed nickel
OFFO’s arm gives the shortest rise in the set, 8 inches, and bullet 1 states the figure directly: the arm “raises your shower head 8 in higher.” The product details give an item length of 8 inches and an outside diameter of 2.5 inches. At 7.4 ounces, it is the lightest arm in the set.
Bullet 2 says the pipe is “marine-grade 304 stainless steel with over twice strength of ordinary brass.” The listing makes that strength comparison without a source, and no source in this guide covers it. The 8-inch rise is 5 inches less than BRIGHT SHOWERS’ 13 inches, since 13 minus 8 is 5, but that gap is between two listing figures, not between two installed heights. If you need 10 inches or more of rise, this arm is the wrong size.
What we could not verify
- Which rise figure is correct for BESTILL and BRIGHT SHOWERS, because each listing’s own bullets disagree. The listings do not settle it.
- Whether any listed arm holds its head without sagging at the head size the listing gives. The listings make the claim; the sources we opened do not cover any single arm in this set.
- Whether a flange ships with SEABEFORE, NearMoon or OFFO. The spec tables do not list one.
- Whether the AQUAIAW arm is solid brass or matte black. The title and the item highlight disagree.
- The stainless grade for NearMoon, AQUAIAW and BRIGHT SHOWERS. The bullets we could read in full do not name one.
- What a local plumbing code requires for a given wall. The AQUAIAW listing names professional installation, and the pages we opened do not give code requirements for these arms.
- Any flow or water pressure result from these arms. None of the listings states a flow rate for the arm.
- Anything in the bullets that were cut off on the product pages. Those bullets are left out.
FAQ
Is a gooseneck shower arm the same as a shower arm extension?
Not always. An S-shaped arm adds rise by bending above the wall pipe, while a straight extension adds length. The listings in this guide all describe a bend. If you need a straight extension, see the shower arm extensions guide.
How much rise do I need?
Start with the distance from the ceiling to the drop elbow. AQUAIAW’s listing says that distance “should be at least 12.5 inch” for its arm. Then decide how much higher the head should sit. The rise figures in this set run from 5 inches to 13 inches, and two listings disagree with themselves about their own figure.
Does 304 stainless mean the arm will not rust?
No. The Specialty Steel Industry of North America page says that “no stainless steel grade is totally immune” to chloride stress cracking. A grade name answers part of the question. The rest depends on the finish, the water your home has and how the arm is installed, and the listings say little about any of those.
Does the flange come with the arm?
Check the included parts. BESTILL lists a flange and rubber grommet, BRIGHT SHOWERS lists a flange and Teflon tape, and AQUAIAW lists a flange. The SEABEFORE and NearMoon spec tables name only the arm, so ask about the flange before you order. If the flange is not in the box, you will need one that matches the arm’s outlet, and the listings do not say which flange fits.
Can a gooseneck arm carry a rain shower head?
Three listings state a head limit: 12 inches for BESTILL and SEABEFORE, and 16 inches for AQUAIAW. The arm listings do not state a weight limit. The Department of Energy says showerheads sold in the United States must use no more than 2.5 gpm, so check the flow rating on the head you buy.
Bottom line
Choose the arm whose rise you can confirm and whose flange you can see in the included parts. Pick BESTILL if you want the flange in the box and a 12-inch head limit, and confirm the rise first. Pick AQUAIAW if your ceiling-to-elbow measurement is at least 12.5 inches and you need a 16-inch head limit. Pick NearMoon if about 10 inches of rise is right and you can source a flange. Pick OFFO if 8 inches is enough.
