Wall mounted shower heads attach to a wall-mounted shower arm or a fixed bracket instead of a ceiling arm, and some come with a handheld on a bracket. This post covers ten Amazon listings for wall mounted shower heads. For each one it reports only the facts the listing states: installation type, flow rate, spray settings, materials, included parts, and warranty where given. It then compares the stated flow numbers with the federal limit and the EPA WaterSense ceiling, using two sources we opened for this post. It also lists what the listings and sources do not say.
Quick answer
- Six of the ten listings are fixed wall mounted heads. Three are wall mounted combos with a handheld. One is a handheld kit with a wall bracket. None of the ten is a bracket or holder sold on its own.
- Six listings state 1.75 to 1.8 gpm. Three state 2.5 gpm. One states no flow rate.
- The federal limit for showerheads is 2.5 gpm when measured at 80 psi. The EPA WaterSense label requires 2.0 gpm or less. None of the ten listings says it carries the WaterSense label.
- Installation claims in the listings say no plumber is needed. The sources we opened do not say whether a licensed plumber is needed for a wall mount, so check local rules and the maker’s instructions.
How we chose
The research file for this query holds ten product records, and each one has a listing title, bullet points, and a spec table. We kept a listing if its spec table gives the installation type as wall mounted, or if its title and bullets describe a wall mounted head or combo. Every product section below uses only the fields in that file. Where the title, the bullets and the spec table disagree, the section shows both figures and says they differ. We did not record prices, star ratings, review counts, badges, or seller details, and none of them is used here.
The ten listings are not ranked. The post does not claim that any one of them performs better than the others, because none of the listings gives data that would support a ranking, such as flow at a stated house pressure.
Flow limits to compare against
Federal rules set a ceiling for showerheads. The text of 10 CFR 430.32 says the maximum water use for showerheads manufactured after January 1, 1994, is “2.5 gallons per minute (9.5 liters per minute)” and that this is “measured at a flowing pressure of 80 pounds per square inch gage.” That 80 psi test point matters when you read a listing. Some listings state their figure at a different pressure, and a number at one pressure cannot be compared directly with a number at another.
The EPA WaterSense page makes the second comparison. EPA says that “Water-saving showerheads that earn the WaterSense label must demonstrate that they use no more than 2.0 gpm.” The page also notes that standard showerheads use 2.5 gallons of water per minute. A listing with a figure of 2.0 gpm or less is below the WaterSense ceiling as a number, but a listing that does not say it carries the label is not a WaterSense product.
WaterSense is not only about flow. The EPA page describes a performance criterion called pressure compensation, which “Ensures the showerhead will provide for a minimum flow across a range of household water pressures.” Most of the listings here state one flow number and no pressure range, so this post cannot say how any of them performs at a given house pressure.
Two of the listings state figures that cannot be compared directly with the 2.5 gpm and 2.0 gpm numbers. One lists its flow at 60 PSIG, not 80 psi. Another gives its no-tablet flow only in liters per minute. This post does not convert those figures.
What kind of product each listing is
The table below uses the field names the research file gives. “Not stated” means the listing does not give that field. Flow figures are as the listing states them.
| ASIN | Type (from the listing) | Stated flow | Stated finish or material |
|---|---|---|---|
| B074PR4FRT | Fixed wall mounted rain head, 6 inch | 1.8 GPM at the shipped setting | Polished chrome, ABS |
| B07SQ4R65K | Fixed wall mounted head, 4 inch | 1.8 gallons per minute | Polished chrome, ABS |
| B0DQHJR1YB | Wall mounted rain head with handheld combo, 12 inch | 1.75 GPM in spec table; 1.8GPM in title | Chrome, ABS |
| B0C5D9JTPS | Handheld kit with 79 inch hose and wall bracket | 1.8GPM at 80 PSI of head; 1.75 GPM with tablet in bullets | Chrome handheld; ABS and brass bracket; stainless steel and brass hose |
| B01MEFAKTZ | Fixed wall mounted five-function head | 2.5 gpm (9.5 L/min) max | Chrome, plastic |
| B0FD3GL388 | Wall mounted rain head with detachable handheld combo | Not stated | Matte black, painted; ABS and stainless steel |
| B01EVYG8ZQ | Fixed wall mounted head, 3 inch | 2.5 GPM at 60 PSIG | Polished chrome, ABS and brass |
| B07MY4S98P | Fixed rain head, 8 inch; listed for wall or ceiling arm | 1.8 GPM | Chrome finish, stainless steel |
| B082WWGCC9 | Fixed wall mounted rain head, 6 inch | 2.5 GPM | Polished chrome, ABS |
| B0F7HH1CT1 | Wall mounted rain head with handheld combo, 12 inch square | 1.8 gallon per minute | Chrome, ABS |
Read against the table, the wall mounted heads and combos are the main group. The GwernKB listing (B0C5D9JTPS) is a handheld with a bracket, not a fixed head, and its bracket is the only holder-type part in the set. None of the listings is a holder or bracket sold separately, so this post does not review any holder on its own.
The ten listings
1. SparkPod 6 Inch Round Rain Shower Head (B074PR4FRT)
This is a fixed rain head with a 6 inch round face. The listing gives its installation type as wall mounted, its material as ABS, and its finish as polished chrome. The spec table states a flow rate of 1.8 GPM. The bullets say it ships at that setting and that the package includes an additional water restrictor, which the bullets describe as 2.5 GPM, plus plumber’s tape. The bullets also say the head has 90 flexible rubber nozzles and that it fits any standard 1/2 inch shower arm. The listing states a 1-year warranty. The spec table gives a size of 3.27 by 6.3 inches and a weight of 8.6 ounces. The bullets say that straight-down overhead rain needs an S-shaped extension arm, sold separately. The listing does not say what flow the 2.5 GPM restrictor gives in a given home. Because the restrictor is described as 2.5 GPM, its ceiling is the federal figure, not the WaterSense figure.
2. HOPOPRO High Pressure Shower Head, 4 Inch (B07SQ4R65K)
This is a fixed 4 inch head in polished chrome with an ABS body. The spec table gives the installation type as wall mounted and the flow rate as 1.8 gallons per minute. The listing says the head has universal G1/2 threading and a 360 degree brass ball joint for changing the angle. The included parts are the five-mode head, a wrench, tape, and instructions. The title and bullets describe five spray modes and 66 nozzles, but the spec table gives the number of jets as 1 and the setting type as Full Body. The listing does not reconcile those entries. The listing says installation takes about one minute and needs no plumber. The bullets also mention recommendations from several media outlets and from Consumer Reports. The sources this post opened do not cover those recommendations, so this post does not treat them as verified. The spec table gives the size as 4.13 by 4.13 inches.
3. Rain Shower Head with Handheld, Chrome, 460311 (B0DQHJR1YB)
This is a wall mounted combo. It has a 12 inch square rain head, a 9 spray handheld that docks on a magnetic bracket, and a 59 inch stainless steel hose. The spec table gives the flow as 1.75 GPM, but the title says 1.8GPM. The two figures differ by a small amount, and this post reports both rather than choosing one. The spec table lists 2 jets, while the bullets describe 278 spray nozzles in total, made up of 274 anti-clog nozzles and 4 massage nozzles on the rain head. The listing says a black knob on the bracket switches water between the rain head, the handheld, or both. The listed settings are Eco Spray, Full Body, Massage, Mist, PowerSpray, Rain and Waterfall. The item weighs 4 pounds and measures 12 by 7.4 inches. The included parts are the handheld, a patented shower arm, the rain head, the hose, tape, a spare washer, and a manual. The listing gives patent numbers; this post does not check them.
4. GwernKB Handheld Shower Head with On/Off Switch, 8 Modes (B0C5D9JTPS)
This is a handheld kit, not a fixed head. It includes the handheld, a 79 inch stainless steel hose, a chrome bracket, and an adhesive wall mount that the listing also says can be installed with screws. The spec table gives the installation type as wall mounted and the material as ABS and brass for the bracket and stainless steel and brass for the hose. The item weighs 1.6 pounds and measures 89 by 4.5 inches. The flow figure is not consistent. The spec table says 1.8GPM at 80 PSI of head. A bullet says the water-saving tablet limits flow to 1.75 GPM (6.62 liters), and that the maximum without the tablet is 9.85 liters per minute. The listing says the package includes the 1.75 GPM tablet. The no-tablet figure is in liters only, so this post does not compare it with the 2.5 gpm limit. The listing says the handle has a pause button that stops flow at the handle, and that the hose helps reach low places. The listing does not state a load rating for the adhesive mount, and the sources this post opened do not give one.
5. Moen Ignite Chrome Five-Function Shower Head (B01MEFAKTZ)
This is a fixed five-function head in chrome plastic, listed as wall mounted, with model number 20090. The spec table gives the flow as 2.5 gpm (9.5 L/min) max. The bullets repeat 2.5 gpm and describe it as a high pressure spray. The spec table gives 5 jets and lists the setting type as Massage. The listing says the package includes the showerhead only. It states a Limited Lifetime Warranty and says the product complies with ADA specifications. The item weighs 8.32 ounces and measures 7.62 by 5.37 inches. The 2.5 gpm figure equals the federal ceiling in the Cornell text. It is above the 2.0 gpm WaterSense ceiling, and the listing does not say the product carries the WaterSense label. The listing does not give installation steps beyond the installation type.
6. Aqua Elegante High Pressure Shower Head, 3 Inch, 2.5 GPM (B01EVYG8ZQ)
This is a fixed 3 inch head with a brass ball joint and a polished chrome finish. The spec table gives the installation type as wall mounted and the flow as 2.5 gallons per minute at 60 PSIG. The federal test point in the Cornell text is 80 psi, so this 60 PSIG figure is not the same test. The spec table lists 1 jet, but a bullet describes 42 jet nozzles on the spray face. The bullets say the threads are brass and that the package includes a roll of Teflon tape. The listing says installation is tool-free and that step-by-step instructions with pictures are provided. The listing also says the product is not for sale in California and that California buyers need a 1.8 GPM California size. The sources this post opened do not cover state rules, so this post cannot confirm that point. The spec table gives the material as ABS and brass and the size as 3.1 by 3.1 inches.
7. NearMoon Rain Shower Head, 8 Inch (B07MY4S98P)
This is an 8 inch round rain head in 304 stainless steel with a chrome finish. The spec table lists its installation types as wall-mounted, fixed shower well, and ceiling-mounted, so this listing covers more than one mount type. The spec table gives the flow as 1.8 GPM. The spec table lists 1 jet, while the bullets describe 90 silicone nozzles. The listing says the nozzles are self-cleaning and that the head has a swivel ball connector. The included parts are the 8 inch head, an extra filter gasket, and a red flow restrictor. The listing says the design gives strong flow and high pressure, but no flow figure at a stated house pressure is given. The item measures 8 by 8 inches, with model number NM-SHR-802. No warranty term appears in the listing.
8. Gurin Rain Shower Head, 6 Inch, Polished Chrome (B082WWGCC9)
This is a fixed 6 inch rain head in ABS with a polished chrome finish and a brass swivel ball joint. The spec table gives the installation type as wall mounted and the flow as 2.5 GPM. A bullet gives the maximum outflow as 2.5 gallons per minute. The listing says the head has 90 anti-clog silicone nozzles. The included parts are Teflon tape, a water flow restrictor, a washer, and an additional water filter. The listing says the shower arm is sold separately and that the head fits a standard 1/2 inch IPS arm with no tools. The item weighs 400 g and measures 6.9 by 6.4 inches. The listing gives no warranty period. Its only support statement is a bullet about customer support availability, which this post does not treat as a warranty.
9. 12 Inch High Pressure Rain Shower Head with Handheld Combo (B0F7HH1CT1)
This is a wall mounted combo. It has a 12 inch square rain head, a magnetic handheld with 9 settings (8 sprays and one Power Jet), a one-piece bracket, a 59 inch stainless steel hose, and an adjustable-angle shower arm. The spec table gives the flow as 1.8 gallon per minute. The spec table lists 2 jets, and the bullets list 9 settings for the handheld. The listing says the bracket setup takes three steps. The bullets describe the product as an upgrade for an existing shower faucet setup, but the bullet text in the research file is cut off before it finishes, so this post does not rely on that line. The included parts are the handheld, the adjustable arm, the rain head, the hose, tape, a spare washer, and a user manual. The item weighs 4.6 pounds and measures 15.51 by 4.84 inches. The listing states no warranty length.
10. Black Rain Shower Head with Handheld, 5 Spray Modes (B0FD3GL388)
This is a wall mounted combo with a matte black painted finish. The bullets describe an oversized 10 inch rain head, a detachable handheld, and an 11 inch stainless steel extension arm with a swivel connector. The spec table gives the hose as 60 inches and the size as 5 by 11 inches. The listing says the installation hardware is included and that the nozzles are silicone and anti-clog. The spec table gives the setting type as Rain, while the title refers to 5 spray modes. The listing does not state a flow rate in gpm or L/min, so this post cannot compare it with either limit. The listing says the combo installs in minutes and does not need a plumber. The materials are ABS and stainless steel.
What we could not verify: what the sources do not say
- Flow at a stated house pressure. Only two listings give a pressure with their flow figure, at 60 PSIG and at 80 PSI of head. The rest give one number. The sources we opened do not say how any listed head performs at a given house pressure.
- WaterSense status. None of the ten listings says it carries the WaterSense label, so this post does not place any of them in that group.
- Installation rules. The listings say no plumber is needed for their installs. The sources we opened do not say whether a wall mount needs a licensed plumber, and they give no anchor or load figures for adhesive or wall brackets.
- State rules. One listing says it is not for sale in California. The sources we opened do not cover state rules.
- Warranty terms. Only some listings state a warranty term. The Gurin, NearMoon, and two combo listings do not.
- Conflicting fields. Several listings give different flow figures or jet counts in different fields. This post shows both where that happens and does not pick one.
- Recommendations. Some listings cite media or Consumer Reports recommendations. The sources we opened do not cover them.
FAQ
Do wall mounted shower heads raise the water pressure in my house?
No. This post does not treat any of these heads as a way to raise supply pressure. The flow setting and the spray face change how the water leaves the head. The sources we opened do not say that a showerhead raises house pressure.
What flow rate is the legal limit for a showerhead?
The federal figure in 10 CFR 430.32 is 2.5 gallons per minute for showerheads made after January 1, 1994, measured at 80 psi. Listings at 2.5 gpm are at that ceiling, not below it.
What does the WaterSense label mean for flow?
The EPA WaterSense page says WaterSense showerheads “must demonstrate that they use no more than 2.0 gpm.” The label also covers spray and coverage criteria. None of the ten listings says it carries the label, so a 1.8 gpm listing is below the 2.0 gpm figure but is not a labeled product.
Does a wall mounted head need a plumber?
Most of these listings say no plumber is needed. The sources this post opened do not say whether a licensed plumber is needed for a wall mount. Check your local rules, the maker’s instructions, and whether your wall has a suitable fixed point before you start.
Why do two listings for the same kind of head show different flow figures?
The listings do not always agree between the title, the bullets, and the spec table. The B0DQHJR1YB listing shows 1.75 GPM in its spec table and 1.8GPM in its title. The B0C5D9JTPS listing gives a tablet figure and a no-tablet figure in different units. Use the figure the listing gives for the test point it names, and compare it only with a figure at the same pressure.
Can a combo with a handheld replace a fixed head?
Some listings here are combos with a fixed rain head and a handheld on a bracket. The listings say the handheld can be used alone or with the rain head. The listings do not give the flow of the handheld separately, so this post cannot say whether the handheld alone meets a stated figure.
Bottom line
If you want a wall mounted head, the choice comes down to four things the listings state: whether you want a fixed head or a combo, the flow figure in gpm, the spray face size, and whether the listing gives the installation details you need. The listings at 1.75 to 1.8 gpm are below the 2.0 gpm WaterSense figure as a number, but none says it carries the label. The listings at 2.5 gpm are at the federal ceiling. Check the flow figure in the spec table, check the spray face and bracket, and look for any installation or warranty detail the listing does not give.
