This guide covers the eight speakman shower head listings we read: four fixed heads, three handhelds and one dual head on a diverter. Seven of the eight state a flow of 2.5 GPM, the figure EPA gives for standard showerheads, and none names the WaterSense label. The listings describe sprays, finish and included parts. They do not say how much water a head delivers at the pressure your house supplies, and the sources we opened do not say that a head changes that pressure.

Quick answer

  • Seven of the eight listings state 2.5 GPM. The Hotel model S-2005-H states no flow rate.
  • No listing says WaterSense. EPA sets 2.0 gpm as the limit for WaterSense labeled showerheads, so a 2.5 GPM head is above it.
  • All three handhelds (VS-3010, VS-3011 and VS-2007-PB) list a 60 inch metal hose and a mounting bracket.
  • Check the gpm marking on the head before you install it, because EPA’s WaterSense technical sheet tells installers to verify it.

How we chose

We read eight Amazon listings on 2026-10-22, one listing page per product, from two search pages: speakman shower head and speakman handheld shower. A product was kept if it is a Speakman fixed, handheld or dual head and its listing states at least one of a flow rate, a spray setting, a finish, a hose or a mount. All eight passed. Five other search results were left out and are not described here. The products below are grouped by type. This is not a ranking. Each product is described only with the facts its listing states, and where a listing is silent the post says not stated. Where a title and a description disagree, both are shown.

What the sources say about flow and pressure

Flow is the volume of water a head delivers each minute, measured in gallons per minute (gpm). The EPA consumer page puts standard showerheads at 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm). It also says a WaterSense labeled showerhead must demonstrate that it uses no more than 2.0 gpm. To turn flow into water used, multiply by minutes: gallons = gpm x minutes. A 10 minute shower at 2.5 GPM uses 25 gallons. At the 2.0 gpm WaterSense limit, the same shower uses 20.

The EPA specification we read is labeled Version 1.0. EPA’s showerhead page says Version 1.1 made minor changes, so check the current text before you rely on a fine detail. The spec calls for flow measurements at flowing pressures of 20, 45 and 80 psi. The spec also sets a minimum spray force of 2.0 ounces for the heads it covers. EPA’s consumer page says “spray force and spray coverage were the criteria that most influenced user satisfaction.” None of the Speakman listings states spray force.

Pressure needs its own note. The words High Pressure in some titles are part of the listing’s wording. They do not show a change to the water supply, and the sources we opened do not say that a shower head changes the pressure your house supplies. EPA describes its minimum flow requirement as one that provides a minimum flow across a range of household water pressures, which implies flow is judged across the pressures a house can supply. For a rough check of supply pressure, an Oklahoma State irrigation fact sheet gives a general residential figure of about 40 to 60 psi. It is written for irrigation systems, so treat it as a rough guide, not a shower range. For heads sold as high pressure that also save water, see high-pressure heads that also save water.

The federal definition also covers handheld heads. The DOE page says the Energy Policy Act of 1992 added water conservation standards for showerheads, and it says EPCA defines a showerhead as any showerhead (including a handheld showerhead). So the three Speakman handhelds sit under the same definition as the four fixed heads.

Seven listings say 2.5 GPM, which matches the standard figure rather than the WaterSense limit. The S-2251 listing also names 1.75 GPM and 2 GPM variants, so the variant you select decides the flow. For a handheld with a lower listed flow from another brand, see water-efficient handheld heads.

The products

Speakman S-2251 Signature Icon, fixed head

Type: fixed head. The listing says 2.5 GPM on the variant it shows, and it also names 1.75 GPM and 2 GPM variants. It lists three spray modes, Intense, Rain and Flood, with 8 plungers and 64 sprays per the listing text. The finish is polished chrome and the material is solid brass. The listing includes the shower head and teflon tape. Face size, connection, arm length, hose and mounting are not stated.

The DOE installer job aid says to use thread tape at all connections and to make sure connections do not leak. This listing includes teflon tape, which covers the tape step. The thread size of your shower arm is still unknown, because neither the listing nor the sources we opened gives it.

Skip if you need a stated WaterSense label, because the listing names none and the flow shown is 2.5 GPM.

Limitation: the listing names three flow options, so the flow you get depends on the variant you select.

Speakman VS-3010 Neo Anystream handheld with hose

Type: handheld. The title states 2.5 GPM, and the listing gives no L/min figure. The listing names three settings, Intense, Massage and Combination, and places the head in the Anystream 360 system with self-cleaning plungers. The package includes the handheld head, a 60 inch metal hose and an adjustable shower arm mounting bracket. The listing says the head is compatible with Speakman slide bars, diverters and handshower mounting fixtures. The finish is polished chrome. The material is not stated, and neither are the connection and the arm length.

Skip if you plan to use a slide bar or diverter from another brand, because the listing names only Speakman parts. For hoses longer than this one or for arm extensions, see longer hoses and arm extensions.

Limitation: arm length is not stated, so the listing alone cannot show whether the 60 inch hose reaches the spot you need in your shower.

The New Jersey guidance says to turn the water on and check for leaks after you install a head.

Speakman S-2252 Signature Icon, fixed head

Type: fixed head. The title states 2.5 GPM. The listing says there are three settings, Intense, Rain and Full Flood, and that a side handle adjusts the spray. It names self-cleaning plungers, says the head is made in the USA, and gives a product weight of 1.21 lbs. The material is solid brass and the finish is polished chrome. The included items, mounting, connection, hose and arm length are not stated, so the box contents need checking before you order.

Skip if you need the box contents spelled out before you order, since the listing states none of them.

Limitation: the listing names the settings but gives no spray force or coverage figure, so the spray can be judged only from the description.

Fit note: the listing does not state the arm thread size, and the sources we opened do not state one either. Check the arm before you buy.

Speakman VS-3011 Chelsea handheld

Type: handheld. The title states 2.5 GPM. The listing names three settings, Intense, Massage and Combination, and says five adjustable jets deliver 50 sprays. The hose is 60 inch metal, and the package includes an adjustable shower arm mounting bracket. The listing describes the Anystream 360 system and self-cleaning plungers, and it says the head is compatible with Speakman slidebars, diverters and handshower mounting brackets. The finish is polished chrome. Material, connection and arm length are not stated.

Model note: the title says Chelsea, but the description names the Alexandria Handshower. The listing gives both names, so check the model number printed on the box against VS-3011 before you buy.

Skip if you need one consistent name on the listing before you order.

Limitation: the listing says five jets deliver 50 sprays but does not describe how the jets are arranged, so the spray pattern cannot be judged from the listing alone. For slide bar options with a handheld, see slide bar options for handheld heads.

Speakman S-3010 Neo Anystream, fixed head

Type: fixed head. The title states 2.5 GPM. The manufacturer text lists three settings: gentle rain, full-flood and a pulsating massage setting. The listing also gives 5 stream nozzles and 12 center massage jets for 50 sprays in all. It describes a traditional circular shape with modern hard edges, the Anystream system and self-cleaning plungers. The finish is polished chrome. Included items, mounting, hose and arm length are not stated. The settings are the manufacturer’s own wording, as the listing gives it.

Skip if you need a stated material, because this listing gives none, while the S-2251 and S-2252 list solid brass.

Fit note: connection and arm thread are not stated, so measure the arm before you order.

Limitation: the listing uses the word massage for settings and jets, but it does not describe what those settings do beyond their names. The spray count alone does not separate it from the VS-3011, which also lists 50 sprays.

Speakman S-2005-H Hotel high pressure, fixed head

Type: fixed head. The listing does not state a flow rate, so there is no figure to check against the 2.0 gpm WaterSense limit. It names three settings, intense, massage and combination, and describes 8 center massage sprays and 40 full coverage sprays for 48 streams in all. The T-handle rotates 360 degrees to change the spray pattern. The finish is corrosion-resistant polished chrome, and the listing says the head is constructed of durable plastic. Mounting, connection, hose and arm length are not stated.

Name note: the title uses the words Hotel High Pressure. The listing does not say the head changes the pressure your house supplies, so treat those words as the listing’s wording only. The spray counts come from the description, so check them against the head you receive.

Skip if you need a stated flow rate, since this is the only Speakman listing here that gives none.

Limitation: the body is plastic, while the S-2251 and S-2252 list solid brass, so the two are not built the same way.

Speakman VS-2007-PB Napa handheld, polished brass

Type: handheld. The title and bullets state 2.5 GPM. The listing names three patterns, gentle rain, full-flood and pulsating massage, and says the head has five adjustable jets, 40 individual sprays and 12 massage jets. The hand shower is removable. The finish is polished brass, and the material is lightweight Speakman engineered plastic. The listing says the head fits standard U.S. plumbing connections. The 60 in metal hose and the bracket are included. Arm length is not stated.

Fit note: the listing includes no thread tape, and the DOE installer guide says to use thread tape at all connections. Plan to buy tape separately.

Skip if you want a polished chrome finish to match existing fixtures, because this listing is polished brass.

Limitation: the listing says the head fits standard U.S. plumbing connections but does not name a connection size, so check your shower arm against the manual.

Speakman VSR-233010 dual head with diverter

Type: dual head, with a fixed head and a handheld on one three-in-one diverter. The listing says 2.5 GPM, also written as 9.5 LPM. The title says 6-spray, and the description says each head has three spray settings. The listing counts 114 streams, 57 per shower. Included items are the three-in-one diverter handle, a mounting bracket, a 60 inch metal hose and thread tape. The finish is polished chrome. The listing says it is compatible with U.S. standard plumbing systems and shower arms.

Thread tape is in the box, and the DOE installer guide says to use it at all connections.

Skip if you want only one head or no diverter, because the set runs both heads through one diverter.

Limitation: the listing does not state arm length or material, so fit and build cannot be checked from the listing alone. For a bar that holds the head, see shower bar options for holding a head.

What we could not verify: what the sources do not say

  • Shower arm thread size: no source we opened gives it, and none of the Speakman listings states it. Check the arm or the manual before buying.
  • Pressure at which each listed flow was measured: none of the Speakman listings says it.
  • Spray force: none of the listings states it. The 2.0 ounce minimum in the EPA spec applies to the heads that spec covers, not to these listings.
  • WaterSense status by model: the EPA pages we opened do not name individual models, and none of these listings claims the label.
  • Pressure change: no source we opened says a head changes the pressure your house supplies.
  • Pressure range for showers: the only residential range we opened is an irrigation figure of about 40 to 60 psi.
  • Cleaning schedule and finish care: the New Jersey guidance says minerals can block nozzles but gives no schedule, and the sources do not give soak limits for chrome or brass.
  • EPA spec version: the PDF we read is labeled Version 1.0, and EPA says Version 1.1 made minor changes.

Frequently asked questions

Will a Speakman high pressure shower head raise the pressure my house supplies?

The listings use High Pressure in some titles, but none of the sources we opened says a head changes the pressure your house supplies. Flow depends on the supply that reaches the head, so the listed gpm is a rated figure rather than a promise at your faucet.

Are any of these heads WaterSense labeled?

None of the eight listings names the WaterSense label. EPA says a labeled showerhead must be independently certified, and it sets 2.0 gpm as the limit. The listings that state a flow for the item shown give 2.5 GPM, which is above that limit.

Do I need thread tape?

The DOE installer job aid says to put thread tape on all connections, then confirm there are no leaks. Two listings include tape: the S-2251 includes teflon tape, and the VSR-233010 includes thread tape. The other listings do not state whether tape is included.

Which handhelds fit a Speakman slide bar?

The VS-3010 and VS-3011 listings say they are compatible with Speakman slide bars, diverters and handshower mounting fixtures. The VS-2007-PB includes a bracket, and the VSR-233010 lists a mounting bracket, but neither names a slide bar. For options that mount on a bar, see slide bar mounts for handheld heads.

How often should I clean the nozzles?

The New Jersey Department of Health guidance says naturally occurring minerals can build up and block the nozzles. It describes soaking the head in distilled white vinegar overnight and clearing clogged holes with a needle or straightened paper clip. It does not give a schedule. The listings call the plungers self-cleaning, but the sources do not explain that feature or how often to clean. The sources do not give soak limits for chrome or brass, so check the manual before soaking a finished head.

Are Speakman handhelds covered by the same flow definition?

Yes. The DOE page says EPCA defines a showerhead as any showerhead, including a handheld showerhead. So the three Speakman handhelds are classed with the fixed heads under that definition, and the listed 2.5 GPM is the same kind of figure for each.

Bottom line

Choose by listed flow first: if you need less than 2.5 GPM, the S-2251 variants are the only Speakman listings that name lower figures, so check the variant and the gpm marking on the head before you buy.
